On January 25th, 2014, Mayor Walsh hosted a public hearing during which he invited arts representatives and organizations to share their ideas about what to keep, change, add in Boston regarding expanding arts throughout the city.

People spoke for 2 minutes each, reading from condensed testimonies about how arts have impacted their sphere and giving snapshots of ideas going forward.

Of note, one suggestion received applause and accolades, the recommendation to “create an arts office with, with staff, and resources; increase money going to arts, specifically in the form of grants to teach, create, and increase visibility about the arts in Boston.
