Back Pocket Dancers is an inter-generational dance group that capitalizes on varying physical facility. Not every dancer can jump or offer an arabesque of 180 degrees. No need, it is not a company that makes money with acrobatics or corps de ballet. Rather it offers delightful displays of interactive movements and juxtaposing positions.
Why so powerful then? As if talking to one another in movement, occasionally using the aide of colorful fabric, and web-like maze, this group choreographs with the spirit of community and story. This dance group makes its magic by humorous and gentle interplay. Movements are woven together masterly by choreographer Joan Green. They tell a story and it is told by young to old – in varying movement – some more skilled, others more expressive.
